Tampa Clubs During The GOP Convention?

I don't live in Tampa but I've been to Tampa and the Mons Venus many times. I'm considering visiting the city to try out Mons during the GOP convention. My thinking is: 1) it will be super-busy but there will be lots of freelancers dancing there and likely more hot women than normal as a result 2) Mons owner Joe Redner will indeed raise the cover (as he's suggested) to $50 3) Because of the action and the high rollers in town, I see dances being $30 minimum and less deals to be had (not sure the usual 3-for-$60 is gonna fly when the girls have rich Republicans around willing to spend lots of cash)...thinking they will be able to net $30 per dance 4) it might be hard to wrangle the girl you want since the crowds will be so dense 5) quality of lap dances is a real interesting question: I sense the grinding and mileage if anything will be down somewhat since there will be a few non-Mons girls around who aren't used to giving the great dances common to the place but this one could go either way I'm curious what other tuscl members think Tampa strip clubs and Mons in particular will be like during the convention Aug 27-30 but also the weekend Aug 31-Sept 1 as I'd guess the weekend should still retain some post-convention buzz...

I’ve had the same hunch you have about certain weekends/holidays/events being a good time to go to a SC because one might see some major talent there. But in my personal experience, I’ve been more disappointed than blown away when I’ve visited the SCs during these times; mainly for the reasons you stated in 2 - 5 in your post – and sometimes I’ve haven’t even seen better talent. Also, as you mentioned, the SCs may be packed; and again in my personal experience, the more packed the SC the less quality service I usually get. Case in point – I went to a dive SC this past Monday night – many will say Mo. nights may be the worst night to SC in terms of finding talent in the SC – I must say I had a hell of a time this past Monday night – talent was very good – few customers – and I got some fine attention from the dancers. Personally I avoid special events when I SC – e.g. Mardi Gras; etc. My 2 cents.

Certainly sounds about right. In fact I have a sneaking suspicion it will be great for clubs and dancers, but not a good value for experienced club-goers who are looking for the steak (hot girls, good dances) and not just necessarily the sizzle (crowds, atmosphere, high cover charge). I still can't help but think there might be a bunch of stunners working the clubs that week, but it's probably a case of letting my imagination get the better of me. I remember being in Vegas for SuperBowl weekend a couple of years ago and it was not appreciably better than a normal weekend there.

I'd stay away during convention week. When you got a large influx of dancers (and escorts) during convention (or superbowl) week, many will be flaky and the attitude will be to make a quick buck at least service. Unless you gotta be there as part of the convention, why would you wanna join the circus?

Not only do you need to think about why you'd want to join the circus, as Steve calls it, but you need to consider whether you can realistically compete with the GOP high rollers who are likely to be in attendance. Girls will go to the guys with the dollars.

I stay outta the clubs when these big events take place. When the "Masters" is on in Augusta GA, I don't even go to the clubs in Columbia SC, 70 miles away. Just too many guys that only get away from their S/O's a couple of times a year and they have big bucks to spend.

Being in the Mons Venus specifically could end up really uncomfortable from just a physical standpoint as well. The place is pretty small as is, and can feel cramped on a normal weekend night. During the GOP convention, it could be virtually unnavigable.

You list 5 detailed reasons for not going. But you're thinking of going? Huh?

Point #1 is an argument in favor of going. Point #5 was an open-ended question meant to generate discussion. These were intended to be talking points more than anything.
