Why are we changing the past?

Thursday, August 19, 2021 5:53 PM
We live in a world where the left and criminals are allowed to tear down statues; change the names of parks, buildings, bridges and roads; teach fake history such as the 1619 project and just plain simple indoctrinating lies such as Crt. Why? Simple, Orwell explained in very few Words. Remember these words every time you watch the Washington Football Team or hike Denali, which is really Mt. McKinley. The past was erased. The erasure forgotten. The lie became truth. 73 years ago Orwell warned us of the abyss of big government run by the left and yet we sit here watching it happen. In a way it really is too bad January 6 was just the right imitating the BLM crud and not really an insurrection, which we dearly need. Cannot wait for 75,000 good Afghanis and 25,000 Muslim terrorists from Afghanistan coming to this country soon and unvetted, courtesy of Joe Biden, the biggest piece of shit in history.

The past gets overwritten all the time. It's only a problem when something a person has an attachment to goes away. How many people are screaming because rotary phones went away? To me there's a difference between something having a name that is continually offensive and something named after a long dead person or thing where most people don't remember the association.

I don't recall rotary phones being taken away because they offended weak people. A continually offensive name? Like Malcolm X? If I were related to Robert E. Lee, I would be beyond proud. By the way the Constitution was created specifically to safeguard offensive feelings and thoughts. Orwell was right about the future and the Socialist Orwell predicted the left would create the horrible world of the thought police.

I will not waste my energy arguing with someone who uses rotary phones as an analogy for the leftist assault on our proud and precious national heritage.

A monument is not a celebration to people wit a brain and without a political agenda. There is a monument in Deerfield MA commemorating the murder of a number of colonists by the native Americans. I am sure no one celebrates the murdering of women and children, but it needs to be acknowledged. Of course, if it were white people murdering native americans the monument would be the size of Delaware, not the size of a case of beer.

"I will not waste my energy arguing with someone who uses rotary phones as an analogy" Good for you. You might've noticed I don't argue around here because to me it's not what I'm here for. The phone analogy was actually for the loom smashing that pervades so many threads around the boards. I was pretty clear about my thoughts on the subject in the second statement that you chose to ignore. But I don't spend my time worrying about the past with so much going on in the present, other than to understand the motivations of people I need to deal with IRL. I respect the right of all you faceless Americans (and wherever else you're from) to believe what you like. Just so long as it's ok for other folks to maybe not care quite as much about what you're worked up about.

This is not about what is offensive, or even about this country’s past – all this “equity” and LGBTQ bullshit are just smoke-screens – the leaders of the left don’t give a fuck about any of this, they use these things as smoke-screens b/c all the left wants is to implement a huge leftist government where all power and decision-making is centralized and everyone/citizens just obey – that’s why the war on cops; the war on our military; the ware on the middle-class/small-businesses/private-property – the left does not want the people to have any power; they want all the power and decision-making centralized. For over 100-years the left was thinking/hoping they could manifest their revolution by instigating the working-class to revolt and put them (leftist government) in power – when that didn’t work for decades they needed any other way to attack our country and democracy whether it’s race, gender; anything. All this taking down statues and BLM bullshit is not about our past or race – whenever one sees all this and one is scratching their head, just know these are just smoke-screens with one goal in mind, topple a democratic free-market system and put in a centralized system where the government picks the winners and losers and who they are gonna give stuff to and who they are gonna punish. The left has always hated what America has stood for – i.e. freedom – they want control and that can’t be had with a democracy, free-markets, prosperous middle-class, etc – the left wants the people to be dependent on them so they can then totally control them.

Control the past, control the present. Control the present, control the future. And the absurdity of some of these requests is the point. The more outlandish or inconvenient things they can make you do, the more absurd the request, the more they make you grovel, the more they assert control. Note, the ones who participate in their struggle sessions get cancelled anyways. You cannot placate a bully, you have to punch them in the mouth.

@Papi - profound indeed. Up to just a few years ago I viewed such assertions on the liberal agenda as absurd. Now, I believe every word with absolute certainty. It may take another generation, but I fear they've succeeded with their agenda.

The best thing Robert Lee did was give the order that sent a bunch of inbred rednecks into the firing range of Americans guns, artillery. Hope he's burning in hell. Hilarious how southerners are crying because we're taking down their civil war participation trophies. USA USA USA

As a rick I will never even the rewriting of history. After all, ‘tis history that records the simple fact that we ricks are superior creatures. That said, Skifredo is off his rocker. You damn dirty apes are fucking obsessed with politics but you also have to remember something: Skifredo is an idiot. Don’t celebrate his rants about rotary phones and George Orwell because he apes certain “conservative” talking points. For example, Alaskans have long called the mountain Denali. My bud rickthemoose has never uttered the words “Mount McKinley”. This isn’t some whiney liberal bullshit wah wah wah you have to rename the mountain nope my moose bud’s ancestors were wearing stylish suits and fuckin’ sexy female Eskimos. Yeah I said “Eskimo”... that’s what we ricks call the hairless apes native to Alaska! You got a problem with that you politically correct ape? Then I got a word for you: wildebeest! Anyhoo...you damn dirty apes need get yer Skifredo’s under control. Yeah...political correctness sucks. But you know what sucks even MORE? Idiot homeless crabs wasting the bandwidth at Starbucks by ranting about political correctness. ROAR!!!

@Ski "Hope what you wish for comes back on you are yours tenfold" Mine and mines are Americans. I will never apologize for not shedding a tear for hicks who betrayed my country by rebelling and betrayed humanity by supporting slavery. We aren't changing history, I want every true American to know what these people did.

Was it the northern states who seceded from the US? Was it northern states enslaving people? Was it the south who won and now have statues of their victorious generals displayed? What part did I get wrong? We should replace any confederate participation trophy statue with Sherman. Show those rednecks who is boss and who won the war.
