Cheerleader strippers?

Last Comment: September 23, 2009

September 20, 2009 • Maybe it’s because I’m attracted to the girl next door types, but a lot of the dancers I talk to turn out to have been cheerleaders in school. Anyone else notice this?

I also had a favorite once who was one and who used to dress up as one as part of her stage act. I wouldn't know otherwise whether there are more because it's just not natural to ask whether they were cheerleaders in high school, although if there were, its not surprising. I've actually known more who were athletes rather than cheerleaders.

Gambling dancer was a cheerleader. She was a very popular girl. The school fortunately or unfortunately just passed her thru the grades regardless of merit.

Surprisingly, ime, for a girl that was so popular and hot she didn't have an attitude.

I have met a few cheerleaders, even one who claimed to work for the Cincinnati Bengals and drives 2 hours to Kahoot's (in Columbus).

One girl told me she was on her school's step dance team, if you know what that is. Now when I go to tip her on stage she will do a few step dance moves, kinda of an inside joke between us.

I believe that some of them are only telling customers what they want to hear. It seems like every time I've asked a stripper who looked the part whether she had been a cheerleader, her answer has been yes.

That being said one of my current faves says she was a high school cheerleader. A former fave was on the track and field team (sprinter and shot put).

I'm sure there are others but it hasn't come up. High school chearleader uniforms don't do it for me, I wouldn't be interested in seeing a girl wear one. Some of those NFL cheerleader uniforms, now that's a different story!

I got to see pics of her when she looked very young in her cheerleader outfit. The other young cheerleaders looked familiar as well. ;)

Hell, over at Angels it might have been more than half the squad dancing at one time or another. ;)

So, I fall on the side of believing that ones that claim that they were cheerleaders. You don't seem to find many gymnasts, and that is a damn shame.

I do not feel that cheerleading requires any sort of narcissism as it is a sport just like football or gymnastics. Dancing can run the gamut of personalities--the narcissistic types to the incredibly insecure and need reassurance and acceptance types. Then you have the "I'm not too bad looking, love to dance, and really need the money because I lost my job" types. I consider myself one of those dancers. But in my experience, most girls that are dancers were not cheerleaders.

Ah, the fortunate ones . . . who consequently may receive eupsychics; I'm assuming home schooled sans religion or autodidact.

September 22, 2009 • With all due respect to Vivienne (welcome to the board by the way!) I think cheerleading is more than "just a sport like football" to many of those who participate (gymnastics is somewhere in between: very rigorous and athletic but with skimpy outfits; floor exercises can be sexy; vaulting and uneven bars not so much). I do agree, however, that cheerleading is less narcissistic and perhaps more exhibitionistic at its core, although the two are often connected. It takes a fair amount of self-confidence to put yourself out there in a skimpy outfit and perform a variety of stunts, which both dancers and cheerleaders (and gymnasts?) do. Girls join cheerleading to acquire or build self-confidence; strippers do the same on one level or another. The big difference is that in most schools, cheerleaders are members of the elite social group rather than outsiders. Dancers, particularly in conservative places like the midwest, are seen as part of a social fringe that many disapprove of (working at Hooters falls somewhere in between). If most cheerleaders fulfill their destinies as elites by going to college, marrying well, or getting careers, then they won't end up working in strip clubs unless they really crave the attention. The few former cheerleaders I have encountered are often the ones for whom the success-train jumped the track via early pregnancy, bad marriages, substance abuse issues, and other unfullfilled goals. But in either case, the need to be seen and appreciated is still there and the joy of performing pops out when they are on stage.
