I have seen many gentlemen’s clubs come and go over the years. Since I tend to return to the same cities and towns over an extended period of time, I have observed what becomes of gentlemen’s clubs when they close down. Some buildings go up for sale and are put to other uses, while other buildings are just bulldozed or abandoned to nature. Here are some of the changes in vocation I have observed for former strip clubs I have visited.

  • Big Rig Doll House in Kingman, Arizona. It is now a bar called Sports Bar 44. The bartender/manager had fake boobs when I stopped in for a drink. Maybe she was a former dancer?
  • Little Darlings in Lemon Grove, California. It is now a cannabis dispensary called Buzz Cannabis.
  • Classy Chassy in Indianapolis, Indiana. It is now a training facility for truck drivers called Jodha Truck Driving School. It appears to cater to Indian truck drivers.
  • The G Spot in Sabula, Iowa. It is now a warehouse for boats.
  • Double D’s Cabaret in Emporia, Kansas. It is now a country bar called The Dark Horse Saloon.
  • Deja Vu Showgirls in New Orleans, Louisiana. It is now a Bourbon Street bar called The Frat House.
  • Toy Chest in Detroit, Michigan. It is now a dental clinic called Silver Dental.
  • Fred’s Lounge in Missoula, Montana. It is now a cannabis dispensary called Dancing Goat Gardens. It is in the same complex as a Sinclair gas station.
  • Sagebrush Sam’s in Rocker, Montana. It is now a lingerie and sex toy store called The Exotic Peach.
  • Silver Dollar in Aberdeen, South Dakota. It is now a hot yoga and fitness studio called Sweat Zone.
  • Deja Vu in Spokane, Washington. It is now a non-profit called Helping Captives. It is an organization that provides housing, care, and therapy to women who are survivors of sex trafficking.
  • Ralph’s Place in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. The original structure is gone, and it is now a Shell gas station.

What changes in occupancy have you seen for closed down gentlemen’s clubs?

If founder is serious about divesting himself of TUSCL, he should sell it to you. You are definitely committed to the lifestyle.

The Magic Lantern, Palmer, MA is a marijuana dispensary. The long-gone, much-beloved original Mario's Showplace in Johnston, R.I. is now a McDonalds.

The former Glitter Nite Club in Elyria Ohio became an antique store not long after it closed. I think Chrissy's Lounge in North Ridgeville Ohio became a child's day care.

I've been to 2 of the clubs sinclair mentioned (Classy Chassis, DV Spokane). I haven't shed any tears over those clubs passings.

The Toy Box was a juice bar, all nude dancing, upstairs and The Next Generation downstairs in Schenectady, NY. Same owner for both. The Next Generation featured local bands and "foxy boxing" and had a liquor license. The Toy Box expanded to downstairs when The Next Generation lost its liquor license. Jerry Springer put the place on the map when he did a show from The Toy Box. A new mayor "cracked down" on vice and the Toy Box was no more. City was sued for $8 million and there was an out of court settlement. The building is now home to an Improv Theatre.

Club XXXotica was a multi floor strip club in Albany, NY Upper floor had an opening where you could see dancers on the lower floor. I heard it was closed due to plumbing code violations. The building is now home to a 24 hr News, Grocery, Vape shop.

Linda's Blue Bayou was a strip club in Albany, NY in a storefront adjoining a bakery. The club closed and was replaced with a health food, nutrition store that also closed. The storefront remains vacant and the bakery is still in business.

Club Paradise in Vancouver became a Karaoke bar for a minute. Then the front became a Starbucks for years. It’s now a Pizza Pizza with a choral studio taking up the main part of the building.

I've been a customer a few times at the big rig dollhouse in Kingman, Arizona. always seemed to have very skanky girls. but it was convenient because I live in Kingman.

Little darlings in lemon Grove was convenient to me when I was making a run down to the Chula Vista terminal in a big truck. I think the constant tip parade was the death blow for that club. again, I only visited a few times. I'd get in free because of my Las Vegas Hustler black card.

The Club 81 in Grand Forks, ND, burned to the ground back in the mid-80s. Apparently that owner's businesses had a habit of burning.

There was another club in East Grand Forks, MN, but it was only open for a short time. The flood of '97 took it out, along with rest of that block.

Four clubs I went to at some point:

  1. Boomers in Fremont, NE now Ace Rent to Own
  2. Lariat Club in Fremont, NE now offices for a construction firm. It had been a regular bar after the strip club closed.
  3. CJ's Revenge Theater in Myrtle, Minnesota is now the What's Up Bar
  4. Ossy's in Carroll, Iowa is now the Piranha Club restaurant.

Several clubs I've been to were demolished, and at least 3 were closed and have yet to have anything take over the abandoned space.

Girls of Glitter Gulch in Las Vegas was bulldozed and Circa Resort & Casino was built in its place. The Circa people were nice enough to keep Vegas Vickie the famous neon cowgirl sign. It hangs near the lobby in the Circa hotel.

Except for Classy Chassy, which has already been mentioned, I can't think of any former strip clubs here in Indianapolis being used for something else. This is because most of the closed clubs were in bad neighborhoods that I was only entering because of that club. After the club closed, I never went to that area again.

Chills n Thrills, StudlyJohn, or as I recall someone calling it when I went there years ago, the Cow Palace (supposedly because all the girls were fat).

One I did not go to is Backlot in Kearney, NE. I can't tell you whether it's the same building (I would guess no), but the Nebraska DMV has taken over the lot.
